The 7th Annual Key West Triathalon makes its way through the US's Southernmost city this December. Come watch and cheer on top athletes race to the finish line in paradise, then celebrate in style.
A trifecta like no other, come frolic and gather to watch friends, family or passer-byers swim in the Atlantic Ocean, bike along US1 and run across Smather's Beach in paradise, in the United States' southernmost city. The Key West Triathlon, AKA, TRIKW, is celebrating its 7th year in production; bringing in over 1,000 participants each year, as athletes test their endurance and strength. Both Olympic-distance and shorter sprint-distance triathlons will be taking place all day.
The shorter race includes a 0.75km swim from Higgs Beach, a 20km bike along US1 beachside, and a 5km to and fro along Smather's Beach. The Olympic-distance competition features a 1.5k swim, 40k bicycle ride and 10k run, while sprint-distance participants are to complete a .75k swim, 20k bicycle ride and 5k run.TRIKW begins promptly at 7 am on December 3rd, at Higgs Beach Pier in Key West, Florida, providing a perfect backdrop for the athletes and viewers alike.
A perfect activity for all ages, spectators can watch the swims start from either the White St. Pier or Higgs Beach Pier, or be there for the finish on the beach while watching the sun set. Directly following the races, hit the towns restaurants and bars for all the massive post triathlon parties. Charley Mac's will be hosting their big post-race party offering live entertainment, food, drinks and of course the awards ceremony to the top three finishers in varying age groups for each competition.
